Where is the preschool located?
We are located on the north-west corner of Park and Independence Parkway in Plano, TX. We are directly across the street from Plano Senoir High School.
What are the hours of the preschool?
Our preschool hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Early Drop off is available at 8:30 a.m. for $5.00 a day.
How many days can a child attend?
12 months to 35 months may attend one day a week and up to five days a week. Three, four and five year old children must attend at least two days a week up to five days a week.
Do you need an appointment to visit the school?
We have an open door policy. Appointments are preferred so that staff members are available to lead the tour.
What is your registration process?
The preschool year begins in August. Registration is available at any time. A completed registration form and a check for the registration fee is required. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Please see Admissions for more information.
When does my child have to be toilet trained?
Children should be toilet trained by the three-year-old class. We can work with families with this process if necessary.
Who provides snack and lunch for the children?
The preschool provides a snack with water every day. Snacks do not include meat or peanut and tree nut products. A monthly calendar lists the snacks. Parents provide lunches for the children. Lunch boxes are brought from home with a drink and meal items.
What readiness skills are taught in the Preschool?
Alphabet, numbers, shapes, directional concept, name recognition, and phonics.
What are the teacher to child ratios at BBPS?
The ratios vary depending on the age of the children. 12 month to 24 month classes have one teacher and an aide for 10 children. 24 month to 35 month classes have one teacher and a Foster Grandparent for 10 children. 36 to 48 months have one teacher and a Foster Grandparent for 10 children. Pre-Kindergarten classes have one teacher and a Foster Grandparent for 14 children.
Is Bright Beginnings Preschool licensed by the State of Texas?
Yes, the school is licensed by the state, which means that we are inspected at least once a year and are required to follow the Minimum Standards implemented by the Department of Family and Protective Services. The Minimum Standards covers all health and safety issues in a school situation. We have an excellent record of compliance.
What qualifications are required of the staff?
The staff has 8 hours of pre-service training and must complete 15 hours of additional trainings each year. The average years of service for our staff is 7 years. Experience plays a vital role in teachers qualifications. The staff demonstrate love for children, an understanding of the stages of development and knowledge of early childhood curriculum, and love of God.
What do the Chapel stories include?
The Chapel stories come from the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Children's Worship curriculum. Our stories follow the church calendar with lessons of Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, important people of the Bible and the parables as taught by Jesus. Our children come from a variety of denominations so we respect differences in church membership.
